Over the years, automotive repair shops have had to adapt to changing vehicle technology in real time. Shop owners, service writers, and technicians have created and recommended maintenance plans for their customers in order to deliver the absolute best reliability, performance, and efficiency from these ever-evolving cars and trucks. Meanwhile, the OEMs have been slow to recognize the shortcomings and inevitable consequences of these changes, and instead have pursued marketing strategies such as “low cost of ownership” to sell more cars.
